  • Lipid-Based Drug Delivery

Lipid-based carriers are moving toward more stable, scalable and structurally controlled delivery of mRNA and small-molecule drugs. Freezing and lyophilization can disrupt internal order and reduce mRNA activity, motivating optimized solid formulations and continuous nanopore assembly. PEG-free lipocondensates and polymeric micelles broaden delivery toward prolonged circulation and transdermal transport. Encapsulation efficiency, particle structure and in vitro activity remain central endpoints.

  • Metabolic Lipid Biology

Lipid and metabolite biology is being linked across breast cancer, obesity, diet and natural-product research. In breast cancer, oxylipin signaling and CDO1-associated ferroptosis connect metabolic state to tumour growth and apoptosis. Metabolomics is also being used to relate urinary carnosine to diet quality and one-carbon metabolism, while lipidomic profiling characterizes medicinal plants. The shared direction is expanded metabolic phenotyping rather than a single therapeutic strategy.

  • Lipidomic Mass Spectrometry

Lipidomics is moving toward integrated molecular profiling that combines metabolomics, proteomics, phosphoproteomics and glycoproteomics from the same sample. Sequential extraction and small extracellular vesicle analysis extend coverage across molecular classes. Ozonolysis LC-MS adds structural resolution by locating lipid carbon–carbon double bonds. The field is prioritizing accessible workflows that connect broad profiling with precise lipid identification.

NEW DIRECTION

Adipocyte-derived oxylipin acts as a tissue-level regulator of tumor ferroptosis

The lean-versus-obese mammary adipose and breast-cancer model assumed in this study instead shows that adipocytes secrete the lipid mediator 9S-HODE, which induces ferroptosis in breast-cancer cells by disrupting iron homeostasis; obesity reduces this signal, thereby weakening tumor suppression. Lipid is therefore assigned a causal intertissue signaling role linking adipose state to cancer progression, and restoring the signal becomes a therapeutic strategy 42721252Sep.

NEW DIRECTION

Lipid interfaces can stabilize micron-scale condensates for prolonged circulation without PEG

The LipCon lipid-containing condensate delivery model departs from the nanoscale lipid-particle approach by showing that natural lipids can organize a roughly 3-µm condensate surface into a low-mobility, unusually stable interface; these PEG-free structures circulate for about 13 hours, whereas micron-scale liposomes, including PEGylated ones, are unstable. Lipid consequently serves not merely as a nanoparticle carrier or coating but as the structural stabilizer of a cell-sized circulating condensate 42405635Jul.
